There’s a movie line where an adopted girl is telling her friends that adopted children are special because they’re chosen. The reality is that we can’t actually choose our adopted children, but you, the birthmothers choose us, or at least that's the way it works with open adoptions and these parent profile websites. And that’s why we’re here and not with some agency or on a plane to China. Even though the anonymity of international adoption seemed alluring at first, the more we thought about domestic adoption the more we realized that we wanted a birth mother to choose us, to feel some connection with us and say to herself, yes, they’re the ones, that’s the family I envision for my baby.
We wish we could do this live somehow so we could talk to you and hear how you feel about this whole world of adoption, about everything you’re considering. We’ve both been involved with unplanned pregnancies before so we can empathize, but every situation is so different. We hope you are getting all the love and support you need from family and friends and we are here if you want to talk (and we can mind our own business if you don’t want to talk, or at least Jon can). We're both easy to talk to.On the following pages is some more information about us that we hope will give you a real, true sense of who we are and how we live so you can decide if you want to take it further. It feels impossible to do that in a few paragraphs so we hope you’ll take a look at the photos too and give us a ring or send an email even if you feel uncertain (how could you feel otherwise?).
